Nature and Environment
The Mettnau peninsula; the Mindelsee, a small lake with a reed area of the same name; the waters of the lake area, Zeller See and Markelfinger Winkel offer valuable habitats for many birds, animals and plants. Due to its early and long-term environmental commitment Radolfzell am Bodensee has become a centre for many conservation organisations and initiatives.
In 1946 the original ornithological station from the Curonian Spit in Rossitten , East Prussia was moved to Radolfzell.
