History and folklore

Nearly 1200 years old, Radolfzell is one of the oldest settlements on the lake with an exciting and interesting history. Take part in one of the cultural and historically guided town tours and see the development from medieval times to today.

Radolfzell became a famous pilgrimage site well known throughout southern Germany because of the relics of Saint Theopont, St. Zeno and St. Senesius

Traditions such as the Hausherrenfest ( festival of the Radolfzeller Patron Saints) and the Mooser Wasserprozession are based on the veneration of these saints.

The "Trachtengruppe Alt Radolfzell" maintains and wears the traditional old costumes of the 18th and 19th century. Almost forgotten these were shown again on the occasion of the Hausherrenfest in 1926 and since then you can see these robes during this celebration every year. The "Trachtengruppe Alt Radolfzell" also represent the town’s culture on special occasions where they are a welcomed tradition and admired eye-catcher.

Even in the "5th Season" Radolfzell has much to offer. The "Radolfzeller Fasnet" (The Radolfzeller Carnival): Folklore and fun! Dive into a world of old history, folklore and colourful costumes.
